Venom stars nab top awards at Big V presentation

WARRANDYTE Venom stars swept up a number of prestigious Big V awards at the league presentation night.
Division One women’s star Shannon Powell-Ross led the charge for the Venom at the Port Melbourne ceremony, adding a league MVP award to her grand final one.
Powell-Ross unsurprisingly earned a selection in the All Star 5 on the back of a season where she led the league for scoring (23 avg) and assists (6.2).
She rounded out what will go down as one of the great individual seasons with an MVP award at the Venom Awards.
Powell-Ross wasn’t the only one to earn All Star honours for season 2024, with championship teammate Emmie O’Nial also a member.
O’Nial was a force in defence for the Venom this season, second in the league for rebounds (16.62 avg) and blocks (1.9).
The Venom men’s team were also represented on the night, with star addition Tristan Forsyth capping off a big year with selection in the Division 1 All Star team.
Warrandyte’s senior award winners were also recognised internally at the organisation’s presentation night, with Powell-Ross and Forsyth named the men’s and women’s MVP.
Youth League women’s star Summer Davis took out the top gong for the team, while Tyson Mackenzie was named MVP for the Youth League men.
