Share your thoughts on active transport

MANNINGHAM Council has released its draft Active Transport Strategy and is calling on the community to have their say.
Manningham Mayor Jim Grivas said the draft strategy sets out Council’s plan to make walking, cycling, and other active modes of transport safer and more accessible for everyone.

“Our draft strategy outlines how we will create a safer, more connected, and more accessible active transport network across Manningham over the next 10 years.
“It brings together all forms of active travel, including walking, cycling, scooting, and e-mobility.
“We want to make it easier for our community to make everyday trips using active transport.
“This has a range of benefits, including healthier residents, less congestion on our roads, and a reduction in pollution, which is better for our environment.
“We want to hear from as many community members as possible, so take a moment to complete the survey and share your ideas on how we can encourage more active transport in our community,”
Cr Grivas said.

The strategy focuses on improving key elements of Manningham’s active transport network, including:

  • shared pathways and trails
  • connections to key destinations and public transport
  • on-road and off-road cycling infrastructure
  • bicycle facilities along major cycling routes
  • amenities such as lighting, shading, and rest areas.

Once adopted, the Active Transport Strategy will guide Council’s future planning, infrastructure delivery, community programs, and advocacy over the next decade.
The draft Active Transport Strategy is open for community feedback until May 31, 2026.
