Santa swaps his sleigh for a fire truck

LOLLY AND OIGS have landed firmly on Santa’s Nice List this year, Father Christmas has personally invited them to join the annual CFA Santa Run, one of Warrandyte’s most cherished festive traditions.
Each year, Santa hitches a ride with our local brigades, who take him on the big red truck on a tour of the local streets, to say hello to the waving children who run down their steep driveways to greet him.
This annual tradition brings the magic of Christmas to our doorsteps and is another way of maintaining our Bush Christmas feel.
And to add to the community spirit, Warrandyte Community Bank has again provided Santa with enough Chips and Twisties to provide Christmas cheer to the whole of Warrandyte, North Warrandyte, South Warrandyte and Wonga Park.
This year, Lolly and Oigs will accompany Santa dressed in full Elf on the Shelf gear.
In the lead up to the big event, the CFA Volunteers gave the girls a crash course in safe Twisty throwing and gave strict instructions not to touch any of the buttons on the truck, a rule Oigs is already struggling with.
So, on the weekend before Christmas, keep an eye out for the flashing lights of the big red truck — and an ear out for those familiar bursts of the siren and come down to your letterbox to say hello to Santa.
To make sure you are not going to miss him, Warrandyte CFA has again launched its Santa Tracker App, which you can download from your favourite App Store to follow Santa’s journey across greater Warrandyte and Wonga Park.
Wonga Park will be out and about with Santa on Saturday, December 20 and will visit Wonga Park, Croydon North and parts of Croydon Hills.
On Sunday, December 21 CFA units will be taking Santa around Warrandyte, North Warrandyte and South Warrandyte, Park Orchards, Donvale, North Ringwood and Warranwood and parts of Croydon Hills.
