Pottery Expo celebrates 25 years

WHERE HAS the time gone?
From its small beginnings in 2001
at the site where the Warrandyte playground wonguim wilam stands, we now host over 100 potters from around Australia and beyond, on our natural village green bordered by the Yarra river and the pub.
The Pottery Expo returns on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23.
Over the past 25 years, Warrandyte has welcomed ceramic artists from every state in Australia and from France, UK, New Zealand and India.
Our visitors also make long journeys to be part of this special weekend.
We are so fortunate to live in this supportive Warrandyte community, who, along with the local businesses and service groups, have always been so generous helping to build the event to become the biggest ceramics fair in Australia.
There have been potters and other artists living in Warrandyte for many generations.
The community continues to appreciate and encourage the arts, valuing the opportunity to showcase the work of artists often hidden in their studios.
This year our guest artists are from the International Academy of Ceramics, representing Australian and New Zealand ceramics globally.
There will be an exhibition of their work, where visitors will be able to meet the artists and then hear about their practices at the talks held in the activities marquee.
Northcote Pottery will present the Pottery Throw Down on Sunday morning, a fun competition testing participants’ pottery skills.
Live and local bands will be performing all weekend.
Bring friends and family to meet the potters, buy some fabulous pieces, play with clay, see the demonstrations and enjoy food from local cafes, on site.
Parking is always tricky in Warrandyte, we encourage visitors to catch the bus [the 906 bus stops at the Pottery Expo entrance] or walk along the river.
There will be a two-minute pick-up spot at the Webb Street entry point, to pick up pottery purchases and for disabled visitors.
