MANNINGHAM Council is ramping up its advocacy in the buildup to the 2026 State Election.
While Council advocates to both State and Federal Governments for the funding of vital community projects.
Council has highlighted its continued advocacy for a more fit-for-purpose bus service in Manningham.
Manningham Mayor Jim Grivas explains why.

“We are the only metropolitan council in Victoria without trains or trams.
“Buses keep us moving and ensure residents can get to school, work, appointments, and access local services.”

Council has outlined some key areas in which it would like to see improvements in the bus network:

  • Providing at least $500,000 for a feasibility study on a high-frequency busway along the Doncaster Road corridor.
  • Funding the implementation of revised routes identified in the North-East Pilot Program network review.
  • Delivering an orbital high-frequency route aligned with the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East and future SRL North.
  • Introducing a new Templestowe route connecting The Pines to Heidelberg Station.
  • Replacing the “Manningham Mover” with a service that better meets community needs.
  • Expanding services to leverage the new Doncaster Park and Ride facility and the existing Bulleen Park and Ride.

As part of their advocacy, Council is currently running a survey to understand how people travel by bus in Manningham and what works and what does not.

“Our community deserves public transport that is frequent, reliable and safe — particularly at a time when the rising cost of living is putting pressure on many residents.
“We want to hear directly from the community about how they use buses in Manningham, and what could be improved.
“Please let us know your thoughts on the quality and reliability of bus services so we can advocate to the state government and ensure your concerns are heard.”
said Cr Grivas.

Community feedback will be provided to the State Government and will help Council advocate for improvements that meet residents’ needs.
