Arthurs Creek Road upgrade

EACH YEAR, the Federal Government invests in improving road safety through its Black Spot Program.
With the 2026/2027 Victorian projects now approved, Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell, recently announced that sections of Arthurs Creek Road between Hurstbridge, Nutfield, and Arthurs Creek will be upgraded to improve safety.

“It is a key part of our commitment to reducing fatalities and serious injuries on our roads.
“The Black Spot Program delivers low-cost improvements that have demonstrated effectiveness in reducing the risk of serious crashes and fatalities on our roads.
“Anyone can nominate a Black Spot for consideration, including individuals, community groups, and local councils.”

The Black Spot Program will fund a $1.25 million infrastructure upgrade, which will include: the installation of safety barriers with rub rail, signage, shoulder sealing, intersection upgrades, flashing Give Way signs, delineation, roadside hazard removal, and/or footpath linking.
Mr Mitchell said the Federal Government is making a significant investment in improving road safety.

“The Albanese Government is making a significant investment in improving road safety.
“It is great to see these projects in our community receive the funding needed to ensure a safer journey for the many residents who use these roads.
“The Albanese Government will continue to work with state, territory, and local governments to deliver even more critical road safety upgrades in the future.”

The Arthurs Creek Road was nominated for the program due to 22 crashes, nine serious, between 2019 and 2023, including run-off road crashes.
